A unique space is currently opening up on Pilatus Kulm: The award-winning art installation "Breathe with Pilatus" by experience designer Annabelle Schneider invites visitors to find peace within a gently breathing cloud of fabric. The installation has been celebrated as a cultural highlight by SRF Tagesschau and Tages-Anzeiger, combining light, sound, and scent into a multisensory experience.
At its heart is a large-scale fabric cloud that appears to breathe organically – a space that conveys both shelter and expansiveness. What visitors don't see is the technical innovation by Luft & Laune that makes this poetic experience possible.
This is already the fifth bubble that Luft & Laune has developed together with and for Annabelle Schneider. The collaboration began in 2024 with the first installation at New York Design Week – the start of a partnership where air engineering expertise meets artistic vision.
For "Breathe with Pilatus," Luft & Laune developed a completely novel concept: the world's first internal pressure tent without airlocks. This innovation enables barrier-free, seamless access to the breathing cloud. Visitors can simply enter and let go – no airlocks, no interruptions, just a flowing transition into another space.
The cloud is composed of 280 precisely constructed individual parts that Luft & Laune has united into a harmoniously breathing structure. Each part had to interact perfectly with the others so that the cloud not only functions technically but also achieves this organic, almost living quality.
We are particularly proud of the development of the airlock-free system. The precise air pressure control ensures that the fabric cloud breathes gently and rhythmically – as if it had its own pulse. Technology that forgets itself and becomes the invisible foundation for art and emotion.
The installation on Pilatus Kulm impressively demonstrates what has emerged over the years in the close collaboration between Luft & Laune and Annabelle Schneider: spaces that touch people because the technology behind them is perfectly mastered.
The installation can be experienced on Pilatus Kulm until April 26, 2026.to 26 April 2026
